Jeep® - Jeep® Rebuilder's Manual: CJ: 1946 to 1971 - Bentley ...
Talking with hundreds of enthusiasts at his Camp Jeep(R) workshops, Moses discovered that hobbyists and professional Jeep vehicle mechanics alike want heavily illustrated, step-by-step how-to' manuals. For the Jeep vehicle owner who finds the typical workshop manual impossible to decipher, Moses Ludel breaks ground with this book. No longer will you struggle with pages of text steps and an occasional photograph. At the onset, Moses stripped a vintage CJ model to the bare frame, photographing every step in the process. He then disassembled and rebuilt each subassembly of the vehicle-again under the detailed scrutiny of his camera.
Jeep CJ-3B History
The Willys Universal Jeep CJ-3B was built in the 1950's and 60's. It had flat front fenders like earlier Jeep models (such as the CJ-2A and CJ-3A), but can be distinguished by a higher hood profile. Later Jeeps have more rounded fenders and hood. Willys-Overland The Universal Jeep CJ-3B was introduced as a 1953 model by Willys-Overland, the company which had produced some 360,000 jeeps used during World War 2, and almost as many civilian Jeeps (CJ's) in the seven years since the war. Factory photo One limitation of the wartime jeeps, and the postwar civilian models CJ-2A and CJ-3A, was the limited horsepower of the 4-cylinder L-head "Go-Devil" engine. The new F-head "Hurricane" engine, which Willys began putting in its larger vehicles in 1949, had its intake valves in the head rather than the engine block, allowing them to be larger. The first Jeep big enough for the engine was the military M38A1 in 1951.

Jeep CJ - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Jeep CJ (or Civilian Jeep) was a commercial version of the famous Military Jeep from World War II. The first CJ (the CJ-2) was introduced in 1944 by Willys, and the same basic vehicle stayed in production through 7 variants and 3 corporate parents until 1986. In fact, a variant of the CJ is still in production today under license. The last CJs, the CJ-7 and CJ-8, were replaced in 1987 by the reworked Jeep Wrangler. The CJ-7 is very popular in the sport of mud racing, both with the stock body or a fiberglass replica. Although it bore the CJ name, the CJ-2 was not really available at retail. Willys produced less than three dozen CJ-2 Agrijeeps in 1944 and 1945. It was very closely-related to the Military Willys MB, using the same Willys Go Devil engine, but there were some changes. The CJ-3A was introduced in 1949, and replaced the CJ-2A by the next year. It featured a one-piece windshield with a vent in the frame. A bare-bones Farm Jeep version was available starting in 1951 with a power takeoff.

Not yet a project, but could be. This CJ has the AMC 304 V8, 3 speed T150, Dana 20 transfer case and Dana 44 rear. Body is rough, but it runs pretty well. The 304 can make the little CJ do some serious wheelies, too.
