Jeep Wrangler Unlimited car reviews
The optional hard top makes the Wrangler feel more like a regular SUV, though the wind noise and relative lack of sound insulation, not to mention the padded roll bars, give it away. (One roll bar holds the speakers, which hang upside down). In the summer, you can take off the hard top with relative ease (provided you have a helper) and put on the cloth top. Taking off the soft top is not too time-consuming, though rather difficult the first time thanks to poorly illustrated instructions; putting it back on, especially once it's well seasoned, can be rather difficult. The zippers, hidden under heavy flaps and often velcro-ed in, are heavy and can be hard to zip or unzip.

You'll need Hard Doors too, if your soft doors don't fit the hard top ( and most don't ). So, check to see if they'll fit, paying attention to the top corner where the doors seal against the hard top. Otherwise it's a case of just bolting down the hard top to the tub.

Delivery Jeep Hardtops on The CJ3B Page
Carson Mail Door Another hard top maker, the Carson company of Oklahoma City, made a genuine effort at designing a functional mail delivery full top. Carson, in 1949, featured an optional postal delivery door on the passenger side of its CarCraft Jeep Top. CJ-3B This experimental mail delivery CJ-3B has a hard top made by Koenig Iron Works in Texas. It also has has right-hand steering and sliding doors, and the spare tire has been removed to make room for the sliding door. The photo is dated 1954, the year the Post Office began a modernization program for mail delivery vehicles. Tests were conducted on a variety of vehicles, and according to a history of Postal Jeeps at the Smithsonian National Postal Museum, the four civilian Jeep vehicles entered impressed postal officials for their light weight and maneuverability. Willys brand hardtop Willys offered a similar top for the CJ-5, but this time with large rear side windows. This example owned by Bill Mentz, shows the garage-door-style rear gate and plastic roof. The roof ribs were used on many Jeep vehicles into the 1970's. On Bill's hard top the doors are hinged. Certainly this is the most sophisticated removable full top ever sold for civilian Jeeps.

NOTE: This is a permanent rack that is installed by drilling into a Jeep hard top, truck cap, camper shell, car roof top or other fiberglass surfaces only. The 60 inch Yakima Tracks include bolts and nuts (no PlusNuts) for installing on fiberglass surfaces only. Will not work on metal tops.
